Hello!
My name is Alyssa. Living in Louisiana most of my life has instilled in me a fascination with entomology and environmental conservation. My work is inspired by the diversity of Louisiana's ecosystem, the ways we coexist with this vibrant natural flora and fauna, and how it can be used to enhance our daily lives.
Today, besides the occasional rescuing and fostering of baby opossums and stray cats, I run my own at-home pottery studio, Wild Phlox Pottery, where I produce my pieces. I’m also the Curator of Education and Public Programs of the Masur Museum of Art where I teach workshops, host demonstrations, and inspire others with the power of art.
The purpose of my work is to remind others to stay connected to the wild, get dirty - explore it, see the wealth we have all around us in the natural landscape, and change it only for the better!
