Artist Bio

Hello! My name is Alyssa Guidry. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics from the University of Louisiana Monroe in 2015. Living in the bayou state most of my life has inspired in me a fascination with entomology and environmental conservation. My work is influenced by the incredible diversity of Louisiana's ecosystem and the ways we coexist with this vibrant flora and fauna.

Ever since I was a child, one of my favorite past times has been identifying interesting plants and insects that I find outside. I can remember driving with my grandmother in the spring and naming all of the flowering plants we could see from the windows as we went along on our “adventures.” We called them adventures, but in reality, it was just us hopping in the car to go take a random back road we hadn’t been down before to “see where it goes.”

In 2022, I bought my very own RV trailer and converted it into a tiny house complete with a tiny studio. This allows me to make my work anywhere, which is perfect, because my love for adventures hasn’t faded either! Today, I run my own at-home pottery studio, Wild Phlox Pottery, where I produce my pieces. I also teach art and pottery workshops for children ages 5 & up and adults on request. (I bring the fun, but you must provide the location. Contact me for details.)

Thanks for dropping by! ~Alyssa
Currently residing in: DeRidder, Louisiana
